In the previous article I spoke about the dangers of drinking milk, today I bring you some healthy alternatives to replace cow's milk with other beverages.
Every time there are more the varieties of milk that we can find on the market. There are many alternatives to cow milk such as milk made from; soy, oats, rice, almonds, coconut, quinoa, rye and spelt. In addition to the properties that each of these drinks possesses, all of them are easy to digest. I will comment on the most common on the market.
The most well-known substitute to cow milk is soy. Soy milk is know mainly for being rich in protein, also it contains isoflavones, that help to relieve the feminine disorders of the menopause, also it contains fitoestrógen, that prevents the on-set osteoporosis and reduce the amounts glucose in the blood. Soy milk is also a source of essential amino acids. The consumption of soy has being discussed for some years, believing that might be related to breast cancer, but it has been demonstrated that a moderate consumption (one or two rations) a day does not increase the risk of contracting cancer and contributes benefits as vegetable protein, calcium, fitoestógen, fibre, potassium, magnesium and copper.
For his part, the oat milk provides a big contribution of fibre, both soluble and not soluble what helps to diminish the cholesterol levels in the blood, also it contains high quantities of complex carbohydrates, which reduce the risk of some types of cancer and the constipation promotes the balance of fatty acids. Also the oats have a prebiotic effect, stimulating the growth of bifidobacterias and bacteria acidolácticas.
As for coconut milk, it is a source of fats, carbohydrates, saccharose, starch and fibre. Also it contains minerals such as phosphorus, calcium and potassium, but it is poor in Vitamin To and C and in protein. The fats that it contains are saturated, these are related to an increase of the level of "bad" cholesterol (LDL), but realized studies affirm that in the case of coconut milk they do not take this effect as the antirust ones (tocoferoles, tocotrienoles and polyphenols) that it contains. Coconut milk also contains monocaprin and monolaurin which reduce the appearance of illeneses.
Rice milk is of very easy in terms of digestion, it is low in fats and protein and high in carbohydrates (energy source). It contains neither gluten nor unsaturated fats.
Finally, almond milk is characterized by its content in potassium, soluble and non soluble fibre. It contains a type of cholesterol which reduces the bad cholesterol levels in the blood and is rich in Vitamins of the group B, which increases the production of new red blood cells that improve the circulation of the blood in our body.
so you can see the differences between different types of drinks, the flavor of these are not guaranteed to be as delicious to you as cow milk, my advice is that you try several of these until you find one that you like the best.
